The most commonly used is a vacuum cleaner. Most people prefer an 'upright' vacuum cleaner over a 'canister' for convenience. Some people also like to use a 'hand-held' for stairs and other carpeted areas that don't offer maneuverability.

An 'upright' vacuum cleaner can be used with one or two motors, depending on the type of dirt that accumulates and the type and frequency of cleaning required. Some people also like to use 'spotters' for spot cleaning. These usually have rotating brushes to scrub the stain off the carpet. In order to select the right carpet cleaning machine, we also need to be sensitive to the fabric that the carpet is made up of.

Another type of carpet cleaning machine is called the 'carpet cleaning extractor'. The extractor is ideal for deep cleaning. Use a regular 'carpet cleaning extractor' or a 'self-contained' one. A 'carpet cleaning extractor' is suitable for deep cleaning as it literally extracts dirt from an entire carpet, not just from its surface. If we use a 'self-contained carpet cleaning extractor', it injects a cleaning solution in the carpet and extracts it and it can also be used to vacuum the carpet after the process of extraction has been completed.

**********************************
*
* Find out about our carpet cleaning service today!
*
*********************************

Many people also use 'carpet steam cleaners' for deep cleaning. The 'carpet steam cleaner' uses steam to draw dirt out of carpet surfaces, bases and fibers. It is considered extremely effective and several users of these machines say that it helps them get rid of all the dirt in their carpets, even if the dirt has seeped into the fibers and the base of the carpet. The steam injected by the 'carpet steam cleaner' loosens dirt and brings it closer to the surface. Then the dirt is vacuumed, leaving the carpet dirt free.

Some other factors that to consider before purchasing a carpet cleaning machine are size, attachments and accessories. The size of the machine should be in accordance with the preferences of the person who is going to use it the most. The choice of attachments, particularly cord length, should be determined based on the dimensions of the carpeted area. Accessories, such as different kinds of brushes, can be added for specific problems such as frequent food stains or dirt related to pets.

Carpet Cleaning provides detailed information about carpet cleaning, carpet cleaning supplies, carpet cleaning machines, carpet cleaning equipment and more. Although water is used to assist with the cooling, it is sprayed over condensing coils rather than pads.

The water cooled condensing unit is a residential application of the 250 ton split system chillers already used by commercial buildings. Think of this technology as a mini-chiller for residential use.

Evaporative water cooler units for split system air conditioners have a number of advantages over air-cooled units. Water removes heat from the condenser coils far more efficiently than air. This reduces the temperature of the compressed R-22 refrigerant, which in turn reduces the work load of the scroll compressor. Not only will the compressor last much longer, there is only a minimal loss of cooling efficiency when the outdoor temperature exceeds 100 degrees.

Typical air cooled units can lose as much as 25% of their efficiency at the same temperature.

How much can you save with a water cooled condensing unit?

Charles Mullin, a casino worker who lives in North Las Vegas is also single. So every utility bill comes from his lone paycheck. That's why he switched the air conditioning system on his 1,500-square-foot home to a water cooled condensing unit.

"Before I installed it, I had my thermostat set at 75 to 78 degrees to try to keep my electric bills down," he said. "I tested the new system at 65 degrees - felt like a meat locker. My bill went down to $86. That's about a 45-percent savings and the house was set cooler."

Mullin told all his friends about the units and the savings he's seen. He figured the Freus system will pay for itself in about two years.

Richard Waite, president of Hal Mechanical, installer of Mr. Mullin’s water cooled AC, said they are specifically made for the desert climate.

“The only extra that's needed to swap out an old air conditioning unit for a new water-cooled one is to run a water line to it. The unit has an automated system, similar to a toilet tank, keeping the water at the correct capacity. The system also flushes itself to avoid calcium buildup.”

Due to the almost constant capacity, the condenser size does not need to vary due to climate zones, like air-cooled units. The Freus is installed in much the same manner as an air-cooled condenser and has the unique ability to service multiple air handlers. This provides the space saving convenience of housing two or three compressors (up to 10 total tons) in a single cabinet.

Jim Kilby of Green Valley, a casino management professor, replaced his 10-year-old air conditioning units, one 5-ton and one 3-ton, with two water-cooled ones of roughly the same capacity. He figures his electric bills dropped by a third.

"The hotels have been using this technology for years," Kilby said. "When you think about it, water does a better job of cooling the air than air. It just makes sense."

Whether you call them evaporative water coolers or water cooled condensing units, this mini version of the 250 ton chiller is sure to revolutionize desert cooling.

Alternative-Heating-Info.com offers a unique look into geothermal heating and cooling, radiant heating, solar heating systems and pellet burning stoves.

Article Source: 100% Free Article Directory at ArticleJoe.com

Tags: water cooled condensing unit, evaporative water cooler, water cooled AC, split system, mini chiller, chiller, water cooled air conditioner, water cooled cond

Stain Removal Products and your Tile Floor

Stain Removal Products and your Tile Floor by diane newsom
If you have a new tile floor and do not manage to see the stain soaking into your tile until it’s to late, never fear. There is always a solution to tile floor stains and many ways to combat them.
Stains challenge even the most creative people, but there are a number of ways experienced individuals have come up with to fight stains and keep your tile floors looking lovely and clean no matter what ends up on them.
There are many valuable resources on the internet for cleaning tile stains and a lot of information on how to fight stains, so make sure to do the research before trying your friends ‘special’ method.
Also, remember to always wear cleaning gloves. A surprising number of people forego them and are sorry later on. It protects your hands and allow you to give the floor your all without worrying about dangerous chemicals. They are also important is you are cleaning up stains such as blood.
An important rule of thumb when cleaning your tile floor is the general stain addict that says you should test a small, unseen spot before actually using the methods all out. Testing is easy; you simply apply the solution to a small, non-visible part of the floor, such as under a couch or chair.
If the product ruins it, you know that it should not be used. Before doing any stain removal process, you should test it. Do this by applying it to a small area of the floor that is out of sight or covered by furniture. If the remover damages the floor, do not continue. It may be necessary to contact the tile manufacturer for instructions, and ideally you should talk to them about the tile before you buy it, as not all tiles are the same.
For example, how you clean your floor and the stains up off of your floor depends on the material you’ve used. A glass tile floor is going to need different care than a mosaic or a ceramic tile floor because of the different porousness of the materials and how they are made. Different products will have varying effects, and that’s why it is always important to test and do the research.
Diane Newsom writes for the Fast Floors. Place the tool over the drain and ensure the rubber ring on the bottom of the plunger has made an airtight seal.

Push down gently and release quickly to begin the suction. Repeat for about 20 seconds, or until you break the clog free. If using a plunger doesn't prove successful, then the pipe below the sink could be blocked.

If you have a double sink then place the plunger over one drain and fill the sink with a few inches of water, make sure the plunger seals around the drain. Firmly hold a wet cloth over the other drain opening to block it before you start plunging. Roll the head of the plunger into the water so you force water, not air, into the drain. Start pumping forcefully. On your final “plunge” pull the plunger from the drain to create extra pressure, if the water doesn't swirl straight down the drain, continue plunging for several minutes.

Clearing the pipe manually

Carefully unscrew the portion of pipe under the sink that leads to the trap, making sure you have a bucket beneath the pipe to catch any spillage. Rinse the pipe out thoroughly with hot water to loosen any possible debris. If the pipe is not blocked, then the clog could be in the waste pipe, you'll need to check the segment between the trap and the sink for obstruction. Use a stiff piece of wire to poke the pipe clear. Once complete, re-join the pipe and pour hot soapy water down the drainage hole to ensure the blockage completely is cleared.

…In the bathroom
Is water gurgling up into your bath from the drain when the shower is being used?

If so, then your waste pipe is no doubt clogged with hair and soap residue. Using an old wire coat hanger, or a stiff piece of wire, make a “hook” at the end and lower it into the drain. Try to fish out the debris that is clogging the drain.

Unblocking a clogged toilet

A large plunger is usually the ideal remedy for toilets that are not flushing away waste properly.
Place the plunger over the outlet at the bottom of the toilet pan and plunge for a few seconds. When the blockage is cleared flush the toilet with a bucket of water.

Caution
Never plunge a drain soon after pouring drain cleaners down it. The chemicals can be harmful if they come into contact with your skin. Drain cleaners should only be used if water is draining slowly, and not when there is a complete block.

How to avoid blocked drains from occuring?

Don't overload your drain with foods high in starch (pasta, potatoes and rice), and avoid flushing bacon grease and coffee grounds down the drain because they solidify once settled and cooled. Also, clear remnants of plaster and DIY waste from your tools before rinsing.

Simple home remedies to clear a blocked drain

Pour half a cup of baking soda and half a cup of white vinegar into the drain. Laminate flooring is one that will look like wood, and that will feel like wood but often times is a by-product of wood. Real wood require waxing and cleaning annually to keep the floor shiny. Real wood flooring is going to be sanded down and varnished again as the shine is worn off the flooring. Laminate flooring does not require waxing, no sanding and the wear and tear on the flooring is something that is not going to happen in the manner that the coating on other wood flooring will have.

Laminate flooring can be cared for by using a dry dust mop on the floor for every day cleaning. During those times when you feel that you need a good deeper clean, you can use a wet mop, one that is not too wet, to clean up sticky messes or to clean up mud from the floor. You do not want to use that much water on the floor so you do not have the water seeping down into the laminate flooring and then the laminate flooring is going to warp over time.

Laminate floor care is going to be similar to wood or any other type of flooring when it comes to moving furniture across the flooring. Laminate flooring can be scratched, dented and can be marked up when you are not careful in moving those heavy furniture pieces in your home. To prevent and care for your flooring, you must pick up the furniture and move it from location to location.

Do not drag the furniture across the flooring. Your laminate flooring that has marks and cuts in it will need a little extra care to get that mark out, and sometimes if the cut is all that deep you can't get it out no matter how much buffing you will do on this area. The same goes for wood flooring, if the cut is too deep or the scratch is too deep, you are not going to be able to cover it up.

Laminate flooring is easy to care for because the seams in the flooring are actually very tight. You won't find all types of cracks in the flooring for food, for water, or for dirt to get trapped in. Laminate flooring is a type that will not allow things down between the rows, when you care for it daily. Sweeping and dusting your flooring with a broom, a swifter or a vacuum that is not hard on the floor is what you need to care for the laminate flooring. You only want to mop your flooring when it is really sticky, when you spill something on the floor, but you don’t even need to wax laminate flooring which is what makes it so popular!

Copyright 2006 - Ivar Rudi. While cleaning regular glass surfaces makes them sparkle and shine, keeping your antique glass surfaces clean is even more important due to the age of the glass. Besides, every proud owner of antiques wants to bring out the best in the object in order to show it off to all who see it.

The Basic Cleaning

Basic cleaning can be done on antique glass with a clean cloth to get rid of dust and refresh the antique glass on a regular basis. This is an easy preventative step you can take to keep your antique glass clean and shiny. In addition, it makes a more extensive cleaning more effective when the shine of the antique glass is maintained.

Bringing Out the Shine

For a more thorough cleaning of antique glass, you can try using soap and water, along with a clean cloth or squeegee tool to wipe. These tools can help you wipe away any dust and dirt particles that may be preventing your antique glass surfaces from looking their best.

For a more thorough cleaning still, use a glass cleaner along with the clean cloth or squeegee tool to get rid of stains and any stubborn dirt, which you can't get rid of, by using soap and water.

It is important to avoid using paper towels when cleaning antique glass. In general, paper towels are not the best choice because they can leave behind paper particles and make the glass look "fuzzy." With antique glass, this can become an even greater problem. In addition, using a rough material to wipe down the antique glass can cause the surface to be scratched. Therefore, it is best to use a cloth made specifically for glass cleaning or a gentle squeegee.

Taking it Easy

If you prefer a gentler, gel-based cleaner, this can also be used to get your antique glass surface clean. This also may be gentler on the glass as opposed to a regular spray solution. In addition, gel-based cleaners can get into nooks and crannies needing to be cleaned, while preventing streaks from occurring.

Keeping it Clear

If your antique glass has any problems with fogging up or not being visible and clear, you can try using an anti-fog agent to keep your antique glass surface from fogging.

Taking Preventative Measures

If your antique glass surface is something small or ornamental, you may want to place it on a soft surface, such as a towel, when using these cleaners. This helps you avoid damaging the glass while you are cleaning both sides.

By using one or several methods described above, you can keep your antique glass surfaces – big or small – clean and sparkling to add a lovely accent to your home. You buy a litter box, often an expensive one, fill it with good quality litter, and then find your cat defecating or urinating somewhere else in the house. Even more frustrating is when you discover that your cat “does her business” near the litter box, but not in it.

You have, of course, taken your cat to the vet who has pronounced her “healthy”. So, you've ruled out any physical ailment. You've changed the litter; you've cleaned the box. You've made sure no other cat is going in her box.

And yet, she's still doing it - you still have problems:

· your cat is going somewhere else in the house
· your cat is going next to the litter box
· your cat is going half in and half out

The last possibility can often be solved by getting a larger box: something resembling a tub that your cat can still get into and out of without too much trouble but will confine the scat (not the cat) to the tub.

But the first two difficulties often remain.

The Invisible Culprit

What could be the problem? I'd like to pose a possible answer in one word: plastic.
Most litter boxes, no matter how elaborate or expensive, are made of one plastic or another.
Plastics are polymers…huge molecules made by chemically “stringing together” smaller molecular units. Sometimes the units are all identical, sometimes they vary in composition and recur with some regularity. However all plastics are “organic” compounds.

In case you've forgotten your high school chemistry, organic compounds are primarily made up of Carbon and Hydrogen, sometimes with other elements such as Nitrogen, Phosphorous or Sulfur thrown in.

The plastics used in constructing most cheap cat litter boxes are relatively flexible - they can be easily bent. When you pick yours up to clean it, you'll find it bending as you carry it out the door. It's composed of a flexible plastic.

Flexible plastics are made that way by the addition of what's termed “plasticizers”. Plasticizers are small organic molecules, usually phthalate esters that are added to the polymer to increase its flexibility.

Other litter boxes, particularly the self cleaning ones, are not so flexible. Since they are self cleaning, they are not designed to be picked up, and are generally constructed of several smaller, harder, plastic parts.

Hard plastics are formed in molds (forms into which the plastic is poured, where it hardens and takes shape). The molds are first coated with a “mold release” agent to enable the removal of the plastic part from the mold - otherwise it would stick to it and stay there.

Both materials - the plasticizer and the mold release agent- remain as a residue on (or in) the plastic. And both materials can “outgas”, that is, be released into the air, immediately after your litter box has been manufactured, and, in the cases of flexible plastics, from then on.

Even though you can't smell anything…

So, if you've tried everything to induce your cat to “go” in her litter box and nothing has worked, could it be that your cat is sensitive to the plasticizers or the mold release agents used in the manufacture of her litter box? Even though you can't smell anything, maybe your cat can.

Plastic is basically an unnatural material. It wasn't found in nature before Man arrived and started making disposable food containers and litter boxes, and it wasn't a factor in the evolution of cats.

Maybe your cat is sensitive to it, and is making you aware of that fact by defecating somewhere else, far from this source of annoyance. Or maybe the plastic is triggering some unnatural behavior in your cat, causing her to defecate half in and half out.

Don't tell your guests…

Try changing the material of the litter box. Try a glass litter box.

But, you say, there aren't any glass litter boxes for sale! Where can I get one?

I went to glass some time ago by converting a shallow baking dish into a litter box. My wife used it for baking scalloped potatoes, and I unwittingly grabbed it for a different use, much to her…uh…displeasure.

Granted, a baking dish is shallow and the litter is easily thrown out by a digging cat, but I place newspaper under it (not a plastic mat), to catch the thrown litter. I've owned two cats in succession now, and neither has had a problem “doing their deed” somewhere else.

So try it. Of course it goes without saying that once you convert the baking dish into a litter box, it's the end of using it to cook scalloped potatoes for your guests when they come over for dinner.

Or, at least, it's a good idea that, after they've eaten, to keep that fact to yourself.

John Young is a write with a scientific and programming background. Cleaning your own carpets can be easy but there are a few guidelines that you should follow. Portable rental carpet extractors can be rented at most hardware and grocery stores. These small carpet extractors are great for small areas but are low powered and often times well used. When renting a portable carpet extractor it is advisable to check with you local cleaning and janitorial supplies store. Carpet extractors rented from janitorial distributors are usually in better condition and provide more suction. These professional types of portable carpet extractors can usually be rented for a little more than the cost of renting one from a local hardware or grocery store. Also by going to a professional cleaning supplies distributor you are likely to find better carpet cleaning products than at your local grocery store.

When you go to rent your carpet extractor make sure you have the janitorial supplies distributor go through the workings of the machine thoroughly. Janitorial distributors sell professional and industrial carpet cleaning supplies everyday and are well versed in recommending the right carpet cleaning products for your individual needs. Always ask if there are other attachments that can be rented for the carpet extractor so that you can clean your furniture and drapes at the same time. If you’re going to rent a carpet extractor for a 24 hour period is advisable to get as much use out of it as possible.

After you have purchased all your carpet cleaning chemicals and have rented your carpet extractor it’s time to start cleaning your carpets. First try to move as much furniture out of the room as possible to have a clear path for extractor. Vacuum the carpet thoroughly to remove as mush large debris as possible before using the carpet extractor. If you have extra dirty traffic lane stains it is recommended that you spray these areas with professional traffic lane cleaner and follow the manufacturers’ recommendations for use. It is usually easier to spray traffic lane cleaner onto the dirty areas with a common garden pump up sprayer. Make sure to clean the garden pump sprayer before use to remove any residual chemicals from gardening.

After the traffic lane cleaner has had time work you can beginning extracting the carpets. When mixing your extraction solution for the carpet extractor, make sure to follow the manufacturers’ recommendations. Mix the precise amount of water with the extraction solution and try to get the water as hot as possible. When you extract and clean carpets hot water will get your carpets cleaner than using cold water. When you are using a carpet extractor make sure to make a cross hatch pattern with your cleaning lanes. First do the entire room in strips going one way the extract over the strips at a 90 degree angle going the other way. After you have extracted the entire room it’s time to perform a thorough rinse of your carpets. When rinsing the carpet extract the room with cold water to remove any detergents and extraction solution. If you do not rinse your carpets thoroughly your carpet can act like a dirt magnet after it dries. At the end of your rinse cycle the dirty water coming out of the extractor should be a lot clearer than when you started.

After you have extracted your carpets use a dehumidifier and carpet fan if possible, to speed up the drying of the floor. Damp and slowly drying carpets can cause mold and bacteria to grow in the carpet padding. Carpet fans sometimes known as carpet air movers dry the floor quickly by blowing large amounts of air over the carpets surface. The dehumidifier will take the water out of the air as the carpet dries and make your living conditions a little less humid. After your carpets have dried use a vacuum cleaner to remove any hair and lint brought to the surface of the carpet due to the carpet extraction process. Before returning the carpet extractor back to the rental store make sure it is clean and in the same condition you checked it out in to avoid any extra fees for cleaning the unit.

Great cleaning tips and cleaning information by Lee Harris can be found at http://www.monsterjanitorial.com. Tear into tiny pieces and spread evenly in a shallow dish. Cover with vinegar and leave for two or three hours before straining and pressing leaves lightly in a screw-top jar. Store in a cool, dry place.

* Children: Make your own play dough by mixing 2 cupfuls of flour with one cupful of salt, one-half cupful of water and 1 teaspoonful of vinegar. Mix the flour and salt first then slowly add water and vinegar, stirring all the time until the mixture is stiff. Use your hands to kneed the dough. The dough is ready to use or can be brightened with the addition of a little food coloring.

* Cleaning and Polishing: Remove heavy dirt stains from children’s toys and baby hardware, tiles and other heavy duty surfaces, by using a cloth wrung out of lukewarm water to which a little vinegar has been added. Leave to dry before buffing with a clean fluff-free cloth.

* Clothing: Make your own fabric softener by mixing bicarbonate of soda, vinegar and water (parts: 2/2/4). Add a quarter cupful of the mixture to the final rinse for hand or machine washing.

* Cooking and Food: Make your own red food coloring by mixing one cupful of beetroot juice (tinned or fresh), two tablespoonfuls vinegar and water to your desired color. Bottle and leave in a cool place.

* Health Care: In folk medicine vinegar is considered an elixir for a long healthy life and is recommended for internal and external use. Make a daily drink from one tablespoonful of apple cider vinegar to a cupful of warm or cold water, according to preference. The practice is believed to benefit the memory and to help the body fight many diseases of advancing years.

* Ironing Disasters: If linen is badly scorched take a cupful of vinegar to which is added half an ounce of soap, two ounces of fuller’s earth and the juice of one lemon. Boil well and spread over the damaged parts. Leave to dry and wash the linen. You'll find the stain has completely disappeared.

* Smells: Make your own air spray by mixing two cupfuls of white vinegar with one cupful of crushed herbs, choosing from rosemary, lavender, cloves, thyme or pine needles. Place the ingredients in a saucepan and boil gently for ten minutes then leave to cool. Pour into a large jar with close-fitting lid. Leave to stand for three or four weeks. Strain and add the mixture to a spray container or atomizer. Use in the same way as commercial air sprays.

* Stain Removal: Ink stains can be removed by soaking the fabric in vinegar for an hour or two before washing in the usual way.

Avril Harper has more tips to use vinegar to save money and create a cleaner, healthier environment at VINEGAR TIPS and she also offers a range of downloadable free reports at http://www.toppco.com

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Avril_Harper

Tags: vinegar, vinegar uses, vinegar health, vinegar clean

How To Stop Squeaking In Hardwood Flooring

This is an article that explain a few tips to stop the annoying squeaking sound in hardwood flooring.

How To Stop Squeaking In Hardwood Flooring by Roger King

A squeak in hardwood flooring is caused by two pieces of wood rubbing against one another. One way to stop the sound is by reducing the friction of the moving pieces using a lubricant. I’m not talking oil here, but rather a dusting with ultra-fine graphite powder.

This is available at your local hardware stores, and for the most part it’s used to free lock mechanisms. But if you pour a tiny bit of it on the floor so that it can work its way into the squeaking boards, it could very well reduce or eliminate the sound.

If that fails, you can always try a pair of well-placed nails. You first need to pre-drill some slender holes into the wood, angled slightly towards one another. Then drive the nails in, being careful not to bang up the hardwood floor with the head of the hammer.

You can use an 8d or 8-penny finish nail, which has a very small head. Then sink it below the surface of the wood using a nail set. Now you can say good-bye to that squeak forever. You would need a hammer, a small drill bit, and a cordless drill. This would take no more than 15-20 minutes to complete.

Now after you get rid of all the squeaks, use a filler stick in the same color as the floor to fill any nail hole that are visible. When your floor is really starting to show its age, you’ll be able to renew its surface for about a quarter of what it would cost to install a new floor.

You can sand and refinish them, usually up to a total of four times before so much wood is ground away that the nails holding it in place begin to appear. Your hardwood floor should be as good as new.

About The Author:
Roger King has been occupied in home repairs for several years, and has been helping people with tips and advice to simple repairs to their homes. type='text'>Vacuums Does More Power Mean a Better Clean?

This is a featured article about how to choose the vacuum cleaner that you need.

Vacuums Does More Power Mean a Better Clean? by Carl Carlson

There are many factors to consider when purchasing a vacuum cleaner, and with each manufacturer stressing the importance of the characteristics of their brand of machine, knowing what to look for can become completely overwhelming. In this haze of confusion, some manufacturers will try to emphasize traits that are, in fact, a standard part of most machines, so how do you know which information is the really valuable stuff?

Some manufacturers will stress the importance of the power of their machine, and to the majority of us who are not technologically inclined this seems to make sense. Our vacuum cleaner is twelve amps strong, they boast, and we can’t help but be impressed – until we realize that this is the standard electrical input for most vacuum cleaners. While these twelve amps worth of power is fairly standard, what differentiates machines is how these twelve amps are utilized in the machine itself, and where vacuum effectiveness really lies is in several other factors.

One of these is the design of the filter included in the vacuum. While any cleaner is useless without power to operate it, it is the filtration system that is really responsible for the way that dirt is handled. A poor filtration system will vent some of the dust and dirt removed from your surfaces back into the air again, allowing them to settle on your floor once again, undoing much of the value of vacuuming in the first place.

Another factor to evaluate in any vacuum cleaner is the power of the suction equipment. Vacuuming is once again rendered fairly pointless if your twelve amps of power are not coupled with powerful suction. Closely linked to this is whether your cleaner allows you to adjust the height of the suction device to maximize its power when switching from one type of floor covering to the next. This is an important factor to look for if you have both carpets and wood or tile flooring in your home.

Finally, a vacuum cleaner is of little value if you do not look after it correctly. Twelve amps of electricity will be wasted upon a vacuum that is clogged or full, so be sure to empty your bag or dirt cup regularly and check that all parts of your cleaner are free from debris. It is the manufacturers responsibility to provide you with a high quality cleaner, but remember that some of the performance of your machine depends on you.

Dave is the owner of http://canister-vacuum.info a website providing information on vacuum cleaners.

Article Source: 100% Free Article Directory at ArticleJoe.com

tags: vacuum cleaner

Carpet Cleaning Tips to Keep Your Carpets Beautiful

Carpet Cleaning Tips to Keep Your Carpets Beautiful
By Rick Hendershot

Your carpets represent a very significant investment, and keeping them clean and new looking is an important part of enhancing the overall look and appeal of your home. Taking proper care of them is absolutely essential to insuring they will have a long and useful life. Here are some carpet cleaning tips to help you retain the beauty and wearability of your carpets.

** Clean your carpets regularly

If you let dirt and oily residue collect on your carpet it will attact further dirt, and walking on the dirty areas will break down both the carpet fibers and the carpet base. It is best to frequently vacuum your carpets to remove as much loose dirt as possible -- to get down into the fibers and pull the dirt out before it becomes much more firmly embedded.

** Remove stains as quickly as possible

Stains are caused by oily liquids dropped on the carpet. The liquid residue saturates areas of the fiber and leaves an ugly stain. Or they can result from dirty shoes or boots in high traffic areas. It is important to remove stains as quickly as possible because they become more difficult to remove when they are allowed to dry and harden.

** Scrape dried soil

If soil or other kinds of dirt have been tracked into areas of your carpet, it will probably be necessary to scrape some of the areas where they have dried into small clumps. Use a blunt metal object to break up the dried spot and loosen the dirt so it can be vacuumed.

** Test spotting agents and stain removers

Not all carpets are the same, and they react differently to different chemical cleaners. Always be sure to test a spotting or stain removal agent before applying it to a critical area. Apply it to a spot in a hidden area, and then let the test dry properly before proceeding to the visible areas of your carpet.

** Follow instructions when using chemical cleaning agents

Do not use a harsh spotter or chemical cleaner without properly testing it, and always begin with a less harsh spotting agent. If that does not work, move on to something that is stronger.

Be sure to follow the instructions provided with the spotting agent. They will usually include recommendations for application strength, and will give you some idea of the kinds of stains they can be effectively used to remove.

Most strong spotters are either high acid or high alkaline based. After using one of these, neutralize the area by applying a neutralizing agent as recommended in the instructions. Or if it is not clear what neutralizing agent to use, use water to rinse the area thoroughly.

** Minimize detergent residue

Whenever you use a detergent to clean your carpet you will probably leave a detergent residue in the fibers. This residue can build up and actually attract dirt and show up as powder within the fibers.

So it is important to remove as much of the detergent residue as possible. Often vacuuming is not enough. You should occasionally use an extraction process that uses rotary scrubbing so the fibers are thoroughly cleaned.

Rick Hendershot publishes Linknet News | Carpet cleaning services in Dallas | Florida Mortgage Guide - Free CD and workbook.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Rick_Hendershot

One time cleaning service

Are you always having problem when it's time to do cleaning?
If yes, don't worry. Experience has taught me that it is far superior to the steam cleaning method. It is a very effective low moisture and rapid drying carpet cleaning method. The Von Schrader Company in Racine, Wisconsin manufactures the equipment. They’ve been in business since 1935.

How does it work?

The portable machine generates an even layer of dry foam just ahead of the brush. The dry foam emulsifies (separates) the dirt from the rug fibers. A soft cylindrical brush combs and lifts the pile all the way to the base of the carpet. The emulsified soil is then immediately extracted with a powerful built-in vacuum—all in one forward pass.

Some Advantages of the Dry Foam Extraction System:

· The carpet is cleaned right down to the base .The full bristle – brush lifts the dirt in an upward motion to the surface.
This loosens any deeply embedded soil. The carpet is “Deep Cleaned” and the pile looks revived.

· There is a simultaneous dry foam cleaning and vacuum pick-up all in one easy step. There is no need for separate machines.

· The low moisture-cleaning agent uses only a 10 % water mixture. This prevents the over wetting of the carpet and backing.
No need to worry about carpet damage such as browning, shrinkage, buckling, delaminating, and mildew.

· Carpets dry quickly due to low moisture retention.

· Dry Foam cleaning systems usually clean faster than hot water cleaning systems.

· The detergent is environmentally safe and leaves carpets feeling soft to the touch. It has a popular fragrance.

· The equipment is very gentle on rugs.

Some observations I have made regarding Hot Water or Steam Cleaning systems:

· Excessive amounts of water are applied by steam cleaning systems. Rugs become soaked.

· Hot water can damage some carpet fibers. It could also cause color bleeding, shrinkage, and browning. Stain resist carpets can lose their resistance.

· The detergent used in hot water cleaning systems seems to leave a residue that can attract dirt.

· Carpets require more time to dry.

Conclusion:

I have cleaned carpets professionally for several years using the Dry Foam Cleaning System. I have received hundreds of compliments from many satisfied customers. Everyone loves it. It’s simply the best!

For more detailed information on Dry Foam Extraction cleaning, you are invited to visit http://www.cozycarpets.com Please direct any questions or comments to the following email address: dyacono1@rochester.rr.com
Donald Yacono, Rochester, New York

Article Source: http://www.articlejoe.com

Tags: Dry Foam Extraction

Polishing Granite by David Andrew Smith

Of all the natural stones that you can choose for flooring granite is by far the hardest material and the most hardwearing. It is also resistant to staining and acid and alkaline chemicals. This is the reason it is the kitchen worktop of choice and the flooring material of choice.

Despite its hardness it is still capable of being scratched by quartz. Quartz is sand like material which makes up the biggest proportion of dirt brought into a building on the underside of footwear. Traffic going over this then moves the small particles of sand over the surface of the granite causing minute scratches. The scratching effect on granite will be much less than that on marble for instance but non-the-less it still scratches.

This effect can be minimized by the correct maintenance programme. A typical maintenance programme for granite flooring would be to dust mop the floor each day to remove these particles of dirt and once or twice a week depending upon traffic wash the floor with stone soap. This reseals the floor and enhances the colour. This is then wet vacuumed up and the floor then washed with pure water which is also wet vacuumed up. This wet vacuuming prevents the possibility of water staining.

Once per week or once every other week, again depending upon traffic the floor is misted with a crystallising agent and buffed at high speed. This removes the minute scratches and restores the shine to a floor which may be dulling very slightly in areas of high traffic. Then once per year it can be shined using a more abrasive crystallising compound and a slow speed buffer with non-rusting steel wool pads.

If this regime is followed then the shine on the granite floor should last for as long as you require it.

If the floor becomes neglected and is not cleaned correctly then it will slowly become dull and the scratching will build up enhancing the dull effect. If this was a marble floor then the scratching would be greater and could be removed and the shine restored by using diamond grinders on a slow speed buffing machine. However successful re-grinding of granite cannot be achieved. It can be re-ground using the diamond technique and made shiny but quite often it causes a colour change in the granite which is obviously not acceptable to the customer.

This regrinding process which for marble might take about 30 minutes per square meter for granite, being much harder takes about two to three hours to achieve any sort of shine.

In the processing plants marble is ground for about 40 minutes to achieve the high gloss effect. Granite on the other hand will be ground for several hours to achieve the same effect. There is no way that once the granite is in place this process can be replicated.

Consequently if you have a granite floor and it dulls and somebody offers to restore the shine by re-grinding it do not bother. You will end up with a floor that may be shiny but has probably changed colour and it will have cost you a small fortune. Take care of it from the outset and you will never be in this position.

David Andrew Smith is the owner of a commercial and domestic cleaning services company information about stone cleaning can be found at http://www.wesparkle.co.uk/floorcare.html

Article Source: http://www.articlejoe.com
Tags: Polishing Granite, Stone cleaning

Keep A House Cleaning Schedule by Joy Jackson

Keep A House Cleaning Schedule by Joy Jackson

A house cleaning schedule is your first step towards an effortless cleaning of your home. Although each person has his or her own idea as to what a house cleaning schedule should be like, it is generally agreed that a systematic and coordinated approach will produce the best results.

There have been much advice from various professionals as to how a house cleaning exercise should go about but it will be best if you keep to your own ways of doing things. Decide which plan works best for you and keep to it. After all, not all homes have the same architecture, so obviously cleaning will differ from home to home.

The first step is to decide on what needs to be done. Begin with the most difficult and complex job and progress to the less mundane ones. This way, you would have expended the much needed energy on the big jobs and by the time you get tired, it is only left with the small jobs to be done. Another reason why you should begin with the big job is that, in the event that something happens or you get tired, then someone will be more wiling to assist because they will not have much left to do.

Group your activities into manageable parts. For example you can put your cleaning activities into three categories: washing, wiping or dusting. This way, you can do all the activities that involve washing from room to room and then go to the ones that need wiping. Keeping this kind of schedule will enable you to work faster and comfortably.

Keep your schedule flexible so that should there be any change of plan, the schedule will be able to accommodate it easily. Keeping a household cleaning schedule is your surest way to accomplish more in less time when it comes to giving your home a new look.

If New York state seems a little far from the real North Pole, try getting a little closer to the real thing by visiting North Pole, Alaska on your Christmas vacation. The Alaskan vacation package also includes a visit to Santa’s house in the North Pole. Also offered is an optional dog sled ride through Santa’s village in the North Pole. Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience as you race through the magical North Pole on an authentic Alaskan dog sled. Like the vacation package in North Pole, New York, the Alaskan North Pole offers one or two night stays during weekends.

The Alaskan North Pole Christmas vacation includes hotel accommodations in nearby Fairbanks and at the Chena Hot Springs Resort. There is also lodging available at the Santaland RV Park. The Santa House also offers a large store where guests to the North Pole can find every type of souvenir from ‘I Believe in Santa’ hats to ‘Santa Claus Crossing’ signs and refrigerator magnets. Whether you are two or ninety-two the magic of Christmas in North Pole, Alaska will have you believing in Saint Nick.

If you are traveling before or during the Christmas season, then consider Hershey, Pennsylvania as your vacation destination. The home of Hershey’s candy, Hershey Park becomes home to Christmas Candyland, where over one million Christmas lights are put on display. In addition to the lights, the staff at Hershey Park constructs a number of animated displays that are sure to delight both you are your children.

Christmas Candyland is undoubtedly one of the most exciting Christmas time getaways for kids young and old. In addition to Christmas Candyland guests can enjoy the rest of the Park. Hershey Park is a popular destination for travelers year round, as it offers a wide variety of both entertainment and great candy. Christmas Candyland typically runs for a month prior to Christmas.

If your family has never taken a Disney vacation, Christmastime may be the perfect time to do it. In addition to enjoying the Walt Disney World parade which is televised each year from Disney World in Orlando, Florida, your kids will also enjoy seeing all their favorite Disney characters decked out in their Santa hats and Christmas outfits. There are also a number of special Christmas time shows put on in the parks including Mickey Mouse’s ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and Belle’s Enchanted Christmas Storytelling.

These Christmas activities can be great for young children. Giant Christmas trees are erected throughout the parks and lit up with thousands of Christmas lights, bringing the spirit of Christmas alive throughout the already magical Disney World. The weeks around the Christmas season are also times where lodging rates at Disney World resorts are typically lower than the peak season rates.

By traveling during the Christmas season you are likely to get tons of fun at a reduced price. The weather in central Florida during the Christmas season is typically in the mid-70s, a great change of pace if you are used to cold, wintry Christmas seasons. Santa’s sleigh may have some trouble landing without snow but the magic of the Christmas season is alive and well at Disney World.

Joy Jackson writes and lectures extensively on house cleaning tips to clean better, clean faster! David Dugan

Remember, everyone starts as a beginner at painting. Just because you have never painted a house doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give it a try. The money you save by painting your own house is money you can put into other home improvements. It can also be a fun thing for the whole family to do.

Now we need to choose the colors we want to paint the house. There is a really cool tool online that you can use. Click let’s paint. Choose exterior or the interior options. Choose the project closest to yours. Get started and you will soon know what color you want to paint your house and you’ll have a vision of what it is going to look like when you’re finished.

Here are some of the basics. Of course the first thing you need to do is wash down the walls of your house. A pressure washer can be rented at almost any rental yard and is the best way to do that. Now go around with a scraper and remove all loose paint and chipped areas. You don’t have to scrape the entire wall, but any areas where the surface is not flat can cause you problems as you paint your house.

Next, figure out your square footage so you can determine the amount of paint you will need to buy. Buy your paint in 5-gallon pails, rather than gallons to save more money.

Talk to the helper at your local paint store and tell him about your project. They can help you decide on how many brushes and rollers and other items you will need. You can buy natural or synthetic bristles for oil based paints, but only use synthetic bristles with latex paint. The same rule applies to rollers. Good rollers can run you around $7, but buy high-quality paintbrushes. A good brush for cutting in around edges will run you about $30.

Make sure you purchased some painter’s tape. It’s blue tape that comes in different widths and is easy to remove without messing up your paint job. That brings us to preparation. Tape off all areas you don’t wish to get this color of paint on. If there are large areas to cover, make sure you pick up some rolls of plastic. You can tape the edges of the plastic down over whatever you need to cover.

Don’t paint out of the paint cans. First reason is that leaving the paint can open will dry out the paint and make it difficult to apply. Another reason is that your brush or roller picks up dirt and foreign objects, which will end up in your paint and may even change the color as you go along.

Do all of your cutting or trimming in before you paint the walls. Use a 4” brush and with a smooth stroke guide it around the edges where you taped off. Make sure you have plenty of paint on your brush. The biggest mistake people make is trying to stretch the paint too far. Keep drips cleaned up as you go with a small rag. Remember you will be rolling up to the edge of your cut, so don’t worry about that, just make sure you cover the edges well.

Start on the edges of your walls and work your way toward the middle. Most people don’t do this and problems can result. If you start and new can of paint in the middle of the wall and there is any difference in the color at all, it will show up there more than it would on the edges. So with each new can of paint you open, start at the edges first.

Dip your roller in water (for Latex) or solvent (for oil-based paint), before you start. Whether you use a pan or a 5-gallon bucket with a screen, make sure you roll it out a little to make sure it isn’t dripping. You don’t need to go all the way from the top to the bottom as you paint. Do what you can reach.

Apply the paint in a Y or an N pattern, then apply paint in columns up and down smoothing out all the edges or ridges as you go. Again don’t try to stretch the paint out, make sure you have enough paint on your roller to give it a good coat. If you are applying more than one coat, make sure the first coat is completely dry before applying a new coat of paint.

Corners are a difficult part to learn to paint. If you aren’t careful, this is where you will see paint drips later. Get as close to corners as you can, but don’t scrape the roller against the corner. That will cause drips. If you are unsure, have a paintbrush handy to smooth out drips. That is also a good idea overall. Keep a paintbrush ready for taking care of any drips or ridges you leave behind. Doing this as you go is much easier than trying to fix it after it’s dry or partially dry.

Using tray liners for your paint trays will save you a lot of time at cleanup. Soak your brushes when done for awhile and they will also be easier to clean. For water based paint, soak in water and for oil based paint soak them in solvent.

I hope some of these tips have been helpful to you. Have confidence that you can do this job yourself. You will appreciate and enjoy it much more knowing that you or you and your family completed the job rather than hiring someone else to do it.

D. Is it to save money? Maybe.. who knows?
However, just imagine is it practical to do it yourself nowadays?
I don't think so.

Based on the lifestyle that we are living right now, no matter where is your location, it is basically impossible to do all the maintenance by yourself.
Wouldn't it be better to have someone to do all the wiring or plumbing job to someone that is commited in doing it?

And you can use the time you would have wasted to do something else that you would enjoy with your family members.

Besides, you could have saved the money that you're going to spend on the tools for other purpose. Maybe for your next family vacation to a beautiful foreign country?

So, if you need any handyman service and you happen to be in Singapore, don't hesitate to give us a call at 63271030. Are you stuck with one of those outdated colors of the 1970’s? With a few simple preparations and a lot of patience, you can learn how to reglaze a bathtub and save yourself the hassle of buying and installing a new tub.

Of course, you’ll want to make sure that you work safely. Since refinishing a bathtub involves chemicals, some of which are toxic, make sure that you ventilate the area well before beginning. Also, protect yourself with a ventilator, safety goggles and gloves. Once protected, gather your supplies and get going!

Give your tub a cursory cleaning and remove any loose caulking and gaskets. Most bathtub refinishing kits come with several chemicals. The first two are chemical cleaning solutions that will remove soaps and oils from the surface of the tub and prepare it for the primer. Most kits require you to clean the tub with the first solution, scrubbing the tub with sandpaper, usually 220 or 240 grit.

Once the tub is thoroughly scrubbed, rinse away any residue. The second cleaning solution is applied next, usually with a specially designed cleaning pad that also scores, or roughs, the surface of the tub. This second step removes any remaining oil or soap and also provides “grab” for the primer. Rinse the tub again and dry with an old towel or paper towels.

The third solution in the kit is a primer reducer, a solvent that removes any remaining residue and prepares the surface for the primer. Carefully apply the reducer with paper towels. After this, repair any damage to the tub’s surface and drain area with putty and allow to dry. After about 30 minutes, sand the repaired areas smooth with a fine grit sandpaper, clean with the primer reducer and dry. It is time to mask the area around the bathtub that will not be refinished.

Carefully apply tape and paper to the areas around the tub, burnishing any tape with your fingernail or a credit card to assure a good seal. Next, you’ll apply the base coat to the tub. Remember to wear your respirator for this part of the process, and make sure that your area is properly ventilated.

Following the manufacturer’s directions, mix the primer’s components exactly and use a spray gun to apply to the bathtub. Allow the primer to dry for at least 30 minutes before applying the top coat. Mix the paint for the topcoat following manufacturer’s instructions. Apply the topcoat using the spray gun with even strokes. This topcoat will take about 48-72 hours to completely cure.

Reglazing your bathtub can be a cost effective way to dramatically update your bathroom! Claire Bowes is a successful Webmaster and publisher of Bath Tubs & Bathing. I bet you've never heard some of these before! Paint on carpet, Ink stains, Crayon on walls, etc.

ANT REPELLANT: To keep ants out of the house, find where the ants are entering the house and sprinkle a "barrier" of cinnamon or any type of ground pepper to block their way. The spices are too hot for the ants to cross.

BATHROOM ODORS: Place a shallow dish of baking soda behind the toilet to absorb bathroom odors.

CANDLE WAX: To remove wax from carpeting you should first scrape away any excess. Then, using a warm iron and a clean cloth or even a paper bag simply place the iron on top of the cloth over the wax and as you iron it will adhere to the cloth instead of the carpet. Continue moving the cloth around as you pick up the wax so you are always using a clean section of cloth. If a little grease stain remains sprinkle on baking soda and let sit overnight before vacuuming which will remove the grease residue and deodorize at the same time! If colored wax leaves a stain, blot with spot remover or carpet cleaner, following label directions.

CHIMNEY: To keep your chimney clean, throw a handful of salt on the fire. CHROME: To remove rust from chrome, wipe it with aluminum foil dipped in Coke. To polish chrome, use a crumbled up piece of aluminum foil and rub!

CLOUDY DRINKING GLASSES: Soak them for an hour or longer in slightly warm (not boiled) white vinegar. Then use a nylon-net or plastic scrubbie to remove film. Still there? The damage must be etching (tiny scratches that occur in the dishwasher) and is permanent, sorry to say. To avoid this altogether, hand-wash your best glasses.

COFFEE GRINDER: Grind up a cup or so of rice in a coffee grinder to clean the grinder and sharpen its blades.

COPPER: To polish copper, rub an ample amount of catsup on the copper and let it stand for 5 minutes. Rinse off the catsup with hot water and dry to find an incredible shine.

CRAYON ON WALLS OR WASHABLE WALLPAPER: Spray with multipurpose lubricating oil. Then gently wipe, using a paper towel or clean white cloth. If mark is stubborn, sprinkle a little baking soda on a damp sponge and gently rub in a circular motion. If lubricants residue remains, dampen a sponge with a solution of one or two drops of mild dish-washing liquid to one cup water. Squeeze out sponge and gently rub in a circular motion. Rinse sponge; lightly moisten with water to go over area; dry with a clean cloth. Another method is to use a blow dryer. It heats the wax and wipes away instantly. If the color reamins behind, like red usually does, wet a cloth with bleach and wipe.

DEODORIZE: dishes, pans, cutting boards or utensils with those same pungent odors, simply add 1/4 cup of lemon juice to your dishwater.

FIREPLACE SOOT ODOR: To diminish and remove this odor, after you clean out the ashes, place a shallow pan of baking soda for a few hours or overnight in the fireplace.

FISH OR OTHER SPOILED FOOD ODOR: Place a bowl of white vinegar on the counter for a few hours. The odor will disappear for good.

FRESHEN A GARBAGE DISPOSAL: Sprinkle baking soda in it along with a few drops dish-washing liquid. Scrub with a brush (a new toilet brush works great), getting under the rubber gasket and all around the inside. Then turn on water and the disposal and flush thoroughly. For a fresh citrus scent, throw in a few cut-up lemons or limes and run them through, too, using lots of water.

FRESHEN LAUNDRY BASKET: Place a fabric softener sheet in the bottom of your laundry basket (remember to change it weekly.) You can also simply sprinkle some baking soda in the bottom of your basket and that will help absorb the odors as well.

FRESHEN LINEN CLOSET: In the linen closet place cotton balls that have been sprayed with your favorite scent. Once they are dry place them in corners and on the shelves.

INK STAINS: The best way I have found to get out ink stains is to put rubbing alcohol on the stain - it disappears! This must be done before washing. For ink on the wall, wipe with bleach and it will disappear.

KITTY LITTER: To keep cat litter fresh smelling, mix baby powder in with the litter.

MICROWAVE ODORS: Keep a cup of baking soda in the microwave between uses to keep potatoes from smelling like bacon or other unusual combinations! To clean baked-on food quickly, simply fill a measuring cup full of water and turn the microwave on for about 1-2 minute, until you see the water boiling. The moisture makes all the old food easily wipe off!

MOTHBALL SUBSTITUTE: Take your leftover soap slivers and put them in a vented plastic bag. You place the bag with seasonal clothes before packing them away. Not only will the scent prevent them from moth harm but also they'll smell great when you pull them out.

PAINT ON CARPET: Spray with Windex® and wipe clean.

PERMENANT MARKER ON CARPET: Dab a washcloth soaked in rubbing alcohol onto the marker stain. Do not rub it - just blot it - rotating the cloth to a clean spot every time.

PET URINE ON CARPET: First, blot up what you can with paper towels. Mix one teaspoon mild dish-washing detergent in one cup warm water, dip a clean towel in the liquid and, working from outside in, dab at stain. Do not overwet. Rinse with fresh water and blot dry. Next, add on-third cup white vinegar with two-thirds cup water and dab on stain. Rinse with water; blot until dry. Once area is totally dry (after at least 24 hours), sprinkle entire carpet with baking soda or rug deodorizer. Vacuum after a few hours.

PHOTOS STUCK TOGETHER: With a hair dryer on low, slowly melt them apart.

ROACH PROBLEM: Combine equal parts boric acid (a powder sold in hardware stores and drugstores) and sugar, mix well. Sprinkle in crevices and, if building or remodeling, between walls before putting up plaster board. Put the powder in jar lids; place lids behind the fridge and under sinks. Caution: Keep mixture away from children and pets. If ingested in large quantities, or even in small amounts over several days, boric acid can be harmful.

SHOWER DOORS: I have clear glass shower doors. I have tried everything from CLR, Comet, to Clorox - you name it, I've tried it. Today I decided to try something different. I found a bottle of Resolve spot remover for carpet and fabric. I figured "Why not? I have tried everything else." All I did was spray the Resolve on the shower and with no effort ran a dish sponge over it and rinsed and every bit of the soap scum came off.

SMELLY COOKING HANDS: Simply rub your hands over a stainless steel utensil under running water. This works especially well for the odor of garlic, onions or fish.

SMELLY SNEAKERS: Simply fill knee-high stockings with unused litter, tie the ends and tuck them in overnight for a quick refresh. Add baby powder, too! Another refresher for smelly sneakers is to simply take a few teaspoons of baking soda and put in the center of a cotton cloth. Tie the cloth and rubber band the edges securely creating a baking soda sachet, which you put in the shoes overnight as well. These sachets can be used over and over in any kind of shoe.

SOUR SPONGE: Soak the sponge in lemon juice and rinse it out. This will remove the odor for good but keep in mind that it is important to either dispose of, microwave, or run your sponge through your dishwasher regularly to keep bacteria from growing.

STAINS IN PLASTIC STORAGE CONTAINERS: Use a baking soda paste (baking soda and water) and rub into the stain. You can then rinse with vinegar (optional) and wash normally. Another method is to place container outside on a nice sunny day and the sun actually bleaches the stain out. To avoid stains in the first place, spray container with cooking spray before putting things in it that stain i.e. spaghetti sauce.

STICKERS, DECALS, AND GLUE: To remove them from furniture, glass, plastic, etc. saturate with vegetable oil and rub off.

TARNISHED SIVERWARE: Line a cake pan with aluminum foil. Fill with water and add 1 Tbls. of baking soda per 2 cups of water. Heat to 150 degrees. Lay silverware in pan, touching aluminum foil. Watch the stains disappear!

TRASH BAG IDEA: Save money on trash bags by reusing plastic grocery bags. Use them in all your trash cans. To keep them from slipping down, affix a plastic, self-adhesive hook to both sides of the inside of the trash can. Hang the shopping bag from the hooks.

WHITE HEAT MARKS AND WATER RINGS ON WOOD: If the wood has a good finish (don't try on bare wood), mix equal parts of baking soda and regular white, non-gel toothpaste. Lightly dampen corner of a clean, soft white cloth with water and dip into the paste. With circular motion gently buff the marks for a few minutes. Wipe area clean, and buff to a shine. Follow with furniture polish. (If rings remain after buffing five minutes or so, they may have penetrated the wood; you might have to refinish the piece). If that doesn't work, dip a cloth in vegetable oil, then in cigarette ashes, then rub it over the mark. Another method is to rub real mayonnaise onto the stain, allow to sit overnight, then wipe with a dry towel.
About the Author

Cecilia Sherrard is a full time dedicated Realtor in Northeast Ohio. Even if your furniture enjoys only light use and the most pristine care, dust accumulates daily and leads to dingy fabric, dull leather, and diluted colors.
Follow these easy tips for cleaning even the most stubborn sofa stains, and you'll protect your investment and maximize its beauty for years to come.

Cleaning fabric upholstery

Most common messes such as dirt, dust, and mud can be removed by shampooing or steam-cleaning the fabric.

1. First, vacuum the entire surface of the sofa to remove dry, loose dirt. Always complete this step before getting your upholstery wet--it will ensure a much more effective result.

2. Next, it's time pre-treat the stain. Using a clean, white, very damp cloth, dab the stain to saturate it with water and loosen stubborn dirt particles.

3. Use your cleaning agent to spot-test the upholstery for colorfastness. You can use a commercial upholstery cleaner, or you can save a few dollars by making your own: In a large bowl, combine ½ teaspoon dish or laundry detergent with a quart of warm water. Using a mixer, combine the ingredients until they turn frothy and sudsy. You'll use only the suds as the cleaning agent, so you might need to mix up additional batches for an adequate amount to saturate the entire stained area. To test, apply only the dry suds to a hidden part of your sofa's upholstery and lightly scrub into the fabric with a cloth or soft-bristled brush. Allow the spot to dry. If the area hasn't lightened or changed color (it should look cleaner, but not a different color), you can proceed to the next steps.

4. Steam clean the stain. If you don't have your own steam cleaner, you can rent one from your local supermarket. Apply dry suds from your cleaning mixture to the stain. Using the brush attachment on the steam cleaner, firmly and thoroughly shampoo the stained area in even, circular strokes. Using a spatula, scrape off the suds, then blot the area with a clean, damp cloth to remove the suds from in between the fabric's fibers. You may need to repeat this step once or twice more to completely remove the stain. Once it's removed, you'll likely want to steam clean the entire surface of your sofa to ensure that the fabric wears evenly.

5. Allow the upholstery to dry. It's important that your sofa dries quickly and completely to prevent mildew buildup inside cushions and under upholstery surfaces. Open windows, use an oscillating fan, and turn on a dehumidifier to speed the drying process.

6. Apply a fabric protector. This step will help keep your upholstery stain-resistant and durable.

Cleaning leather upholstery

Most leather sofas are made with finished leather, which is dyed for color uniformity and treated with a clear top coat for maximum durability. Because of this process, many common household stains--especially dirt and mud--can be cleaned with warm water and a clean sponge or cloth. But for tough stains, or to give your leather sofa a thorough cleaning, follow these steps:

1. Vacuum the entire surface of the sofa to remove dry, loose dirt.

2. Using a real soap product formulated for leather, such as saddle soap, lightly apply to soiled areas in broad, circular strokes using a soft brush. Remove excess soap with a clean, dry, white cloth and allow the leather to dry thoroughly.

3. If the stain is still intact, try applying a specially-formulated leather stain remover. For extremely tough stains, other methods may work more effectively. For example, for small ink stains, rubbing a white pencil eraser over the spot often works nicely. For grease, sprinkle cornstarch over the stain and cover with a damp white cloth for six hours. Remove the cornstarch with a dry white cloth, and repeat the process as necessary.

4. Next, it's important to condition the leather to keep it supple and resistant to cracks and fading. Make your own inexpensive leather conditioner by mixing two parts linseed oil and one part vinegar. Using a dry white cloth, work the mixture into the entire surface after cleaning and once a month to ensure the longevity of your leather furniture.

With a little consistent maintenance and only minimal cost, you can keep your sofa looking like new for as long as you plan to own it. Weekly dusting and vacuuming, monthly cleaning, and the immediate treatment of stains are the best ways to protect your investment.

---------------------------------------------
About the Author

Vanessa Kirkland is freelance writer whose articles offer consumer advice and decorating tips for home furniture including
sofas, futons, and recliners.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Vanessa_Kirkland

How To Clean Your House Like a Professional

How To Clean Your House Like a Professional by Pat Schraier

For several years I worked with a janitorial service cleaning offices. From that experience I learned many tricks to make your house cleaning chores easier and faster.

First, decide on the level of disgust that makes you uncomfortable. If you don't mind a little dust but can't stand clothes on the floor, concentrate on that problem.

Second, treat house cleaning like a job - schedule a regular time to clean, put it on a calendar as you would a business appointment and keep that appointment. Enlist your family in the project. If everyone works together, all the chores are quickly completed.

Third, assemble your tools. A pro has a cart to push around but that is not needed in a home. Buy or make a caddy that holds your cleaning supplies. Put a duster, liquid cleaner, damp rag or sponge, dry link free towel and window cleaner in it and store it in a convenient closet. If you don't have small children, keep additional supplies where they will be used - bathroom tile cleaner, toilet brush, etc in the bathroom, cleanser in the kitchen.

Fourth, set a time limit. If you know that you have one hour to finish all your weekly cleaning, you will become efficient and organized.

Fifth, decide what is to be done on a daily, weekly, monthly and semi-annual basis. For example, daily chores could include pick up all clothes and put in proper place, dishes washed, garbage taken out, countertops wiped down and books and magazines put away. Weekly chores could include dust surfaces and window sills, wash TV, computer and windows where the dog puts his nose, vacuum carpets, mop kitchen and bathroom floors and clean toilet. Make a list of your items and choose how often they need to be done.

Okay, now you are actually ready to start. Begin in one room and put everything in its proper place. Then clean the upper surfaces by dusting the tables and window sills. Clean the tv and computer screen. Clean counter tops and sinks and toilets. Last, clean the floor surfaces. Vacuum and mop.

Voila! Your first room is done. Repeat for the other rooms of the house. Turn on lively music, turn off the television and just do it. Set your timer and see how much you can accomplish in the allotted time.

Professional janitors know that cleaning isn't particularly fun but it needs to be done. If you treat it like a job, scheduling time, what needs to be done and a reward you will find that cleaning your house will be a lot easier.

About the Author

Pat Schraier has created a website that helps you with your house cleaning problems. One thing that’s definite is that you should keep it as clean as possible. In other words, if you let dirt, food, liquids, and anything else you drop or spill build up; it will take a lot longer to remove them. Some people are tidy and can get by with cleaning a kitchen floor every week, or even less frequently. For those who aren’t quite as careful, it may need washing more often. If you want to do some spot cleaning, just mop with clear water in between scrubbings. In the meantime you’ll also want to know how to apply floor wax.

Once a year or so, depending on the age and condition of the flooring, you may want to consider removing built up floor wax. If you live in an older home and haven’t replaced the vinyl or linoleum, built up wax will discolor it. Eventually, you’ll want to put down a new floor in some areas, but until you, do apply some shine every so often.

It’s also a very good idea to get in the habit of vacuuming or sweeping floors everyday. It makes particular good sense in high traffic areas where you have vinyl or tile, or a similar treatment. We don’t always see it until there are large amounts, but dust and other small particles can accumulate. Before we notice, we have a much harder job ahead of us in the floor waxing polishing and cleaning realm, than we’d expected. The small things get ground in as we walk on the flooring and they’re tougher to get out. There’s no point in knowing how to apply floor wax until you take the old off if there’s significant build-up.

We’ll discuss how to apply floor wax in a bit, but first let me go over some steps to take in actually washing your floors.

1. Move anything that isn’t too heavy for you out of your way

2. Thoroughly sweep to get rid of any loose material

3. Pour your favorite cleaner onto the floor or have it in bucket ready to apply

4. Have a bucket of cooler rinse water ready if it’s needed

5. Mop the floor with cleaner, squeeze the mop as dry as possible, then use the clear rinse water

How to Apply Floor Wax

Before you get out the wax, there are a couple of things you should know about how to apply floor wax. Before you apply it, your floor should be clean and dry. To ensure that it’s as clean as possible, wash it and let it dry just before waxing. If you haven’t done it for a while, you’ll have to go through the steps for removing built up floor wax.

You can look online to read up on various methods for preserving your floors. You can also look through helpful household cleaning tips. In addition to the Internet, you’ll be able to find books and pamphlets at the library and book stores.

One way of removing built up floor wax manually, is to mix detergent and ammonia with water and apply to the floor with a mop or sponge. This is one formula for a homemade wax remover. Wait a few minutes until the old wax starts to soften and then it’s time for some elbow grease. Use a stiff brush or steel wool to get down to the very base of the old wax. Another way is to use a non-abrasive wax stripper.

After removing built up floor wax you need to study up on how to apply floor wax. The main thing is to make sure the floor is clean. There isn’t any point to put a nice shine on top of a dirty floor.

If you don’t already know, find out what the floor is made of. Different materials call for various types of floor waxing polishing and cleaning. There are basics that have been around for years like vinyl and linoleum. Newer homes often have flooring made from marble, tile, hardwood, or wood composites, among other things.

When you’ve reached the stage where you’re ready to learn how to apply floor wax, you’ll need to know if there is a specific wax you should be using. Instead of crawling around on your knees, buy something to apply the wax with.

Floor waxing polishing and cleaning isn’t necessarily fun unless you’re a cleaning fanatic. It certainly doesn’t have to be a terrible experience. Also determine the frequency of surface cleaning as well as deep cleaning.

Generally, surface cleaning using a vacuum cleaner is recommended once a week and deep cleaning is recommended once a year. However, if there is a lot of foot traffic on the carpet, there are pets in the household, and the carpet is located near a source of constant dust, it is a good idea to surface clean and deep clean more frequently.

Most manufacturers say that it is good to clean frequently rather than infrequently, to protect carpet fibers. Most professional cleaners also recommend frequent cleaning so that those who use the carpet are not exposed to dust and other allergens. In fact, if moisture tends to get accumulated in the carpet, it can even become a breeding ground for germs.

While choosing the cleaning method, it is important to identify the fiber. For instance, a carpet made from coarse synthetic fibers is a low maintenance product, and in most cases, can be shampooed without damaging the carpet. However, a carpet made from soft natural fibers, such as wool, is a high maintenance product, and can be damaged if the cleaning agent used to clean it is strong, or the machine used to clean it has a hard brush, which rotates at a very high speed. In fact, therefore, a powerful machine is not always the most appropriate choice.

Therefore, carpet cleaning machines as well as accessories need to be selected carefully. The cleaning supplies and the cleaning method should also be selected carefully. Cleaning supplies should be mild so that they neither harm the carpet nor the person who will be using them. A strong cleaning agent can damage the carpet fibers. The cleaning method used should ideally match the manufacturer's recommendation.

Usually, manufacturers recommend steam cleaning or extraction as the preferred method for deep cleaning. For carpets made of tender fibers, such as silk, they recommend the 'dry powder method'. The powder-based cleaning supply should also be mild so as to prevent harm to the carpet and the individual who is cleaning the carpet. As far as possible, there should be no one else in the vicinity so that the powder does not inconvenience anyone more than necessary.

Carpet Cleaning provides detailed information about carpet cleaning, carpet cleaning supplies, carpet cleaning machines, carpet cleaning equipment and more. So here's some
good advice on how to clean vomit.

To make your life easier, here are some tips on how to clean
vomit, remove the stains and get rid oflingering odors caused by
the unavoidable accident of an animal or child.Note: Old stains
and stains that have been set by heat are in the
"difficult-if-not-impossible" category. That's why it is so
important to act quickly after the accident occurs.

Being a parent or a dog or cat owner means you are going to have
to clean up vomit from your floor at some point, probably more
than once. When the crime has been committed on a carpeted area,
it's usually possible to restore the scene to its original
condition. Read all the tips given and decide which one works
best for you.

1. Remove as much of the vomit as possible from the carpet (or
whatever area ) without spreading the mess.

2. Always sponge such stains promptly with cool water.

3. Sponge the stain in a solution made by adding half a cup of
salt to two quarts of water. Rinse with plain water. This simple
treatment will remove most of the stain. Or soak with cool water
for 30 minutes or more.

4. After sponging or soaking, work undiluted liquid detergent
into the stain and rinse.

5. How to clean vomit on nonwashable materials: sponge the stain
with cool water or put a sponge over it and squirt cool water
through the cloth with a small syringe or medicine dropper. If
this does not remove the stain, work liquid detergent into it
and rinse. A final sponging with alcohol helps to remove the
detergent, and the fabric dries faster.

6. Keep blotting with clean rag or sponge. Rinse rag or sponge
frequently.

NOTE: Some products like hydrogen peroxide, ammonia, bleach or
alcohol can actually bleach or change the color in some fabrics,
so be sure to test fabric in an area that is not visible. When
using any chemical or liquid on fabric you should PROCEED WITH
CAUTION. If you are unsure as to how your carpet or upholstery
might be affected you should call a professional cleaning
technician in your area.

More simple tips on how to clean vomit:

Steps: 1. Remove as much of the vomit as possible from the
carpet without spreading the mess. 2. Pour dry cleaning fluid
over the stain. 3. Blot the stain with a dry, white cloth. 4.
Apply a small amount of mild liquid detergent to the stain. 5.
Blot again with the cloth. 6. Flood the stain with water. 7.
Blot again with the cloth. 8. Pour a small amount of ammonia
over the stain. 9. Blot again. 10. Apply a little more detergent
to the stain. 11. Blot again. 12. Flood the area with water. 13.
Blot one last time. Additional tips on how to clean vomit 1.
Always test the cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous part of
the carpet before using them on a large area. 2. Use a white
cloth rather than a colored one to prevent any dyes from coming
off on the carpet. 3. As you blot, keep turning the cloth so
that you are using a clean, dry section to pick up the stain and
the cleaning fluids from the carpet. Don't rub. 4. If using a
brush to help clean the stain, always brush from the outer edges
of the spill inward to prevent the stain from spreading.

One last tip: In a spray bottle, make a solution of 1/3 alcohol,
1/3 white vinegar and 1/3 cool water. Use this solution as the
cleaning agent. It generally works very well and negates the use
of chemical cleaning agents. Being the doting owner of two cats,
I always keep this solution on hand -- and use often.

About the author:
Rita Hutner is a copywriter for Catalogs.com. Do we really know what this means? Can you even say it ten times really fast? What ever it is we know it has become a way of life.

It is a fact that we are exposed daily to an incredible array of toxins in our normal lives. They are "toxins" and each one has a certain degree of toxicity to it. Toxicity can be determined in a variety of ways.

With an interest in a sparkling house you need to know a little bit about it to protect yourself, your family and anyone else whose house you clean.

The next question then becomes how can you respond and what can you do?

Well, you can do a lot as a dedicated house cleaner. First, limit your exposure. Read labels carefully. Use nontoxic cleaning products. Avoid using indoor pesticides.

Secondly, limit the exposure of the people around you. Happily for you and your house there are plenty of effective, earth-safe cleaners that you can buy or make. Borax mixed with lemon juice will take out toilet-bowl stains. White vinegar is useful for disinfecting bathrooms and kitchens. Bon Ami, a borax-based powder cleanser sold in supermarkets and hardware stores for more than 50 years, safely cleans pots, pans, sinks, oven interiors along with other corroded surfaces.

Using these alternatives will reduce the toxic load in your house and beyond. Using environmentally friendly cleaners will also safeguard your health and that of the community. It reduces air, water and ground pollution in the big picture.

So why isn't everyone doing it? The reality is, few people actually check labels. Start now. Take time to read the lable. Distinguish yourself as a "green cleaner." You can start a trend. You can actually become a product toxicity home specialist.

The first thing to know is that not all "green" products are created equal. Again, read. Catch the ones that have been prettied up with essential oils. Check labels for irritating chemicals such as chlorine, ammonia and artificial fragrances and dyes.

Many people who "think green" are just now applying their philosophy to the dirt at hand. "Eco-friendly cleaning and laundry products are the next frontier of environmentalism," says Marci Zaroff, former publisher of Macrocosm and CEO of Under the Canopy, an organic-fabric clothing company. "It's an inexpensive, easy and effective way to protect our planet and commitment to life."

Joy Jackson writes extensively on House Cleaning Tips so you can clean faster and clean better. It it that one client you really dislike? Worse yet, is it your house?

Either way, you can tackle it quickly and efficiently is you are organized and know "how" to approach cleaning a big job, room by room and through each room. Here's how!

First, make a checklist. Put on there everything you need to do. If it looks to long just keep adding items. Take it with you in your pocket to every room and a pencil, too. The idea is to cross off everything you finish so you get a great sense of accomplishement as you move through the house. It also reminds you of things you might forget so you never have to go backwards.

Always start at one end of the house and work your way to the other. If its multiple stories start at the top and work your way down. If its one level, start in the bedrooms and work you way to the kitchen.

In each room, always clean top to bottom. Start at the ceilings with cobwebs and spider webs and work your way down the walls, windows and to the floors.

Wash walls, windows and then vacuum. After vacuuming dust. When you dust, start at the top and work down.

Be mobile and prepared. Take all your cleaning tools with you into each room. Avoid unnecessary trips back and forth.

Unplug the phone and turn off the T.V.

Eliminate clutter as you go, too. An uncluttered home looks better than one that is dust-free but strewn with odds and ends.

A house that smells fresh will give the impression of cleanliness. You can't avoid the oily debris. It comes from cooking vapor, the air, the bottoms of your feet, your pets, and a host of other places. So you'll need to clean your carpets regularly. Follow these carpet cleaning tips to get the best job done.

Clean Frequently

Carpets should be cleaned every 12 months. This ensures that the oil film doesn't get so thick it discolors your carpets. If you live by yourself or there's just two of you then every 18 months will probably be suffice. If there is more than 5 of you then you'll probably need to do your carpets every 6 months.

Hiring A Professional

You should consider hiring a professional to clean your carpets. A professional cleaner is trained, that's why he or she is a professional and they will know which type of cleaning is best for your carpet. The professional will come with a heavy duty hot water extraction system which will be used to spray your carpets with water and detergent and then to suck back the water and oil into a tank in their vehicle.

Do It Yourself

If you decide to rent a steam cleaning machine and do your own carpets you need to realize that the rental equipment is not nearly as powerful as the pro's equipment so you won't get as deep a clean. You also need to realize that some of these machines can damage your carpet so be sure you know what you are renting.

Powerless Retail Rentals

Choose your retail rental carpet cleaner carefully because many of these lack power meaning you might land up with a carpet that's too wet and not enough power to suck the water up. This could end up damaging your carpet. Make sure you do your research and that you know what you are renting

Easy On The Water

Pretend like there's a water shortage and use water sparingly. If you use too much water and your carpets are wet for more than 24 hours you can develop mold and mildew growth which is bad for your health. Never mind those interesting odors that seep out of the carpet.

Leave No Trace

Choose a solution that leaves no or little residue behind. The PH of the cleaning solution should be around 9 and it should always be less than 10. If you are left with that sticky residue your carpets will pick up more residue and pick it up quicker.

Wool Carpets

Wool carpets are different than the synthetic blends. They require a special solution that is designed for wool and the natural fibers. Make sure the solutions PH is no higher than 8 and no lower than 5.

Stop The Stains

If your carpets are already treated with a stain resistant treatment you need you use a cleaner that's designed to work with this treatment. Any other cleaner will destroy the stainguard treatment already on the carpets which could cause discoloration and void the warranty.

Less Dry Time

After you've cleaned your carpet places fans around the room to push air across the carpet. This will reduce the time it takes to dry the carpets and the risk of mold and mildew. If you have a dehumidifier use it to pull the moisture out. An air conditioner will also pull moisture out. Your carpet should be dry in 12 hours or less.

Following these carpet cleaning tips will have your carpets looking fresh and clean and it will extend their life. Carpets are expensive so the longer you can make them last the better!

John Murray makes it easy to go through the carpet buying process and provides tips to keep your carpet lasting long. Once you finally finish the last room it seems like its time to start right back over again. To end this nerve-wracking cycle, it is important to have an organized plan.

Start with a system. The most effective system seems to be one that breaks down all of the cleaning jobs over a period of a week. With this system you can assign different jobs to different days and spend less time cleaning your house and more time relaxing in it.

To use this system, you need to break down your cleaning jobs into three categories, light cleaning, daily cleaning and deep cleaning. Light cleaning jobs include dusting, sweeping, vacuuming and laundry. These jobs can be done just once each week and completed on different days of the week. Always schedule the dusting first so that any dirt that is knocked to the floor will be picked up on vacuuming day.

Daily cleaning jobs are the jobs that need to be done often when you are cleaning your house. These jobs include tidying up; doing the dishes and wiping down counters and other highly used surfaces. By spending at least fifteen minutes each day on these jobs, you will keep them from building up into a large mess and also enjoy the feeling of a clean house even when the other chores have not yet been done.

Deep cleaning jobs such as cleaning the bathroom, mopping and wiping down the walls and appliances, should be done once a week. Most people like to schedule these jobs for the weekend when they have more time to devote to cleaning the house. By spending an hour or two doing the big jobs on the weekend, you can enjoy a fresh clean week ahead.

After your system is in place, use the list to assign chores to all of the members of the family. If each person takes on just one or two jobs then cleaning your entire house can take no time at all.

Joy Jackson is a full time mother of 4 children and Cleaning Tip Wizard. My Carpet Is Cleaner Than Yours!

Pet Stains? My Carpet Is Cleaner Than Yours! by Anne Willis

Pet stain removal depends on a few common sense factors. Understand that older stains demand lots of effort. Fresh stains, by definition, are totally curable. Stop torturing yourself if you consider your pet stain situation is incorrigible. Maybe you won't have success in totally removing the pet stain. But you can always improve its condition. Let's start with the basics. When applying a detergent go from the outside to the inside. Avoid making the common mistake of scrubbing circularly from inside to outside. Do this and you'll save yourself another big headache.

Don't despair no matter how scary and big the pet stain seems. Use the force of nature in your advantage. Think about how temperature manipulates the physical realm. When something gets hot it melts, making it easier to move around and eliminate. Methodically heat up the pet stain in careful fashion. Just don't burn the whole carpet. An industrial incinerator is not the ideal tool for this job. Start with towels soaked with hot water. Apply the towels on top of the stain. The pet stain should transfer from the carpet to the towels. Repeat several times.

When you finish cleaning, never forget to quickly dry the affected area. A high powered fan can take care of the details. Have one handy during the pet stain removal process. When you finish you might notice that remaining solids stiffen up. Treat these a bit differently. Smash the remaining solids apart and after pick up the pieces. If appropriate, use a vacuum to suck up these little crumbs. When finished, rinse the affected area with water. A little soap never hurts. Finally, let your carpet rest for a few days. It should then look as good as new.

Anne Willis has won numerous battles against all types of stains. Clean, bright shiny windows add a new look to every house. Like furniture, windows require their own cleaning methodology to keep them looking new and tidy. Here are 7 simple ideas to give your windows a marvellous shine.

1) Ensure that you dry your windows in one direction - leftwards or rightwards. Mixing the direction will leave unpleasant streaks on the glass and make it look untidy.

2) Before you wipe the window glass, remove all dust from the windows so that in applying a wet cloth, you do not leave mud on the window. Water and dust will form mud.

3) If you are cleaning window sills, rub the whole surface with a damp cloth sprayed with alcohol so that all the spots will clear off for a beautiful shine.

4) Windows are very sensitive to dirt. You should therefore apply only clean water in cleaning windows and in cases where you use damp cloth, use only clean cloths.

5) If the glass is greasy or smoky, apply some vinegar to the water before you clean the window. Vinegar removes grease without leaving streaks or stains.

6) When cleaning windows which are beyond the reach of you hand, use a step ladder if the height is medium or use a regular ladder if quite high. Always ensure that the safety clip is on and if possible, get some one to hold the base of the ladder for safety reasons.

7) Sprays are convenient to use than buckets of water. In cleaning windows of considerable heights, try to use sprays instead of buckets of water as they can spill and you will have to do everything again. The sheer weight and burden will get you tired easily.

Getting a window to shine is an easy task. All you need is the above window cleaning tips.

Joy Jackson writes extensively and gives tips and advice chats on quick easy and simple house cleaning. That being said, if you have spent the money to buy a good hardwood floor, then you are going to want to learn good hardwood floor care to protect your investment, and it is an investment since it can bring the resale value up on your house by at least 10% if not more. Hardwood floors are beautiful and depending on what type of hardwood used, how much of an up keep and maintenance on your hardwood floors. Here are some general tips on hardwood floor care.

Solid hardwood flooring, like all solid wood, is a natural insulator. The cleaners used in your hardwood floor care will also help keep the natural insulation in the wood. It's made of microscopic hollow cells and these air spaces produce high insulating values. It would take 15 inches of concrete to equal the insulating qualities of just one inch of wood. Appearance alone can often determine the grade of each hardwood flooring piece. All grades are equally strong and serviceable in any application. Flooring generally free of eye catching blemishes is known as "Clear", though it still may contain burls, streaks and pinworm holes. "Select" is almost clear, but this grade contains more of the natural color variations and characteristics such as knots and other marks.

The "Common" grades, No. 1 and No. 2, have more markings than either of the other two grades and are often specified because of these widely varied natural features and the "strong" character they bring to floors. Grades are sometimes combined (i.e., "Select & Better"). Product combinations, such as short pieces or specific grain direction, Quartered and/or Rift, may also be separated by the manufacturer. When you purchase your hardwood floor, be sure to ask them about this specific hardwood floor care, for the type of floor you are getting.

It's the surface finishes that are very popular since they protect hardwood floors, their durable, water-resistant and require minimum maintenance, a good finish will determine how tough or easy your hardwood floor care will be. Most are made of synthetic resins and are often referred to as urethanes or polyurethanes and give hardwood surfaces a protective coating. These resins come in high-gloss, semi-gloss, and satin finishes. In order to keep your hardwood floors looking beautiful for years, your floor needs to be dust mopped, swept, or vacuumed regularly. Only use a manufacturer's recommended cleaner and sand, buff, and recoat your floor when the surface no longer shines after cleaning. Depending on the amount of traffic your floor gets will decide how often it will need to be refinished.
